Two youths drown in Ganga in Allahabad

ALLAHABAD: Two youths were drowned while two others were rescued by swimmers at Sandipan ghat under the Kokhraj police station of Kaushambi district on Friday morning. The bodies were fished out and police sent them for post mortem.The deceased have been identified as Munnan Ali (22) and Upendra Jaiswal (24), residents of Bahraich and Mau respectively.Station Officer (SO), Kokhraj police station, Anil Kumar told TOI that a group of four youths, working at a private company at Bharwari block, had come to enjoy swimming at Sandipani ghat in river Ganga.While stepping into river, the duo Munnan Ali and Upendra slipped into deep water and started drowning. Two others youths named Saddam and Omprakash, who were following them, raised an alarm. After hearing their cries, swimmers swung into action and saved their lives.Upon being alerted, a team of Kokhraj police along with swimmers rushed to the spot and managed to fish out bodies of two youths after a search of three hours.
