Shiksha Mitras hail Yogi govt’s 8,000 hike in honorarium
Prayagraj: Teachers' organisations on Saturday expressed joy over the 80% increase in honorarium for Shiksha Mitras.Ahead of the Holi festival, the Yogi govt offered a significant gift to Shiksha Mitras serving in basic education. Following an announcement by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Shiksha Mitras will receive an additional honorarium increase of Rs 8,000 per month from the first month of the new financial year (April 2026).
Vandana Srivastava, a Shiksha Mitra at Sehuda Primary School in Jasra Block, Prayagraj, said that the decision will improve her family's situation. With the govt's new inter-district transfer system, she will now be able to leave her maternal home and live with her family in her in-laws' home in Amethi. Poonam Patel, a Shiksha Mitra at the Rampur Khanpur Dandiya Composite School, said that CM Yogi gave Shiksha Mitras the greatest gift not only for Holi but for Diwali as well. Now, they will be able to spend more on their families' education. Sudhesh Pandey, general secretary of the Teachers' Self-Care Team, said that he thanked the chief minister for fulfilling the long-standing demand for an honorarium increase for Shiksha Mitra teachers and instructors. After adjustment, Shiksha Mitra teachers used to receive the same salary as teachers, so this further increase in honorarium is a wise decision. Basic Shiksha Adhikari (Prayagraj) Anil Kumar said that there are a total of 2,934 Shiksha Mitras in the Prayagraj district, of which 1,804 come under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and 1,130 come under the Basic Education scheme. Following the new announcement, these Shiksha Mitras will receive an additional benefit of Rs 23,472,000 per month.
