Prayagraj: VHP to collect water, soil from Sangam on July 29
PRAYAGRAJ: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders will collect soil and water from Sangam — the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati on July 29 for the Bhoomi Pujan of Ram temple at Ayodhya on August 5.
VHP spokesman Ashwani Mishra told TOI on Sunday, "We will collect sacred soil and water from the Sangam on July 29 and send them to Ayodhya for the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of Ram temple."
Only two members of the organisation would carry the Sangam soil and water to Ayodhya due to Covid situation, he added.
"We will hold a meeting to decide the date of sending our volunterrs to Ayodhya. The organisation has chalked out a strategy to celebrate August 5 (Bhoomi Pujan Day) like Diwali and asked Prakhand (Mohalla) level workers to mobilize people to light diyas at their respective homes," Mishra added.
VHP volunteers will follow Covid-19 protocol while lighting diyas at temples and maths with saints and seers besides blowing conches, and ringing bells. Our volunteers across the country would celebrate the day like a festival, he said.
As many prominent seers sand saints from Prayagraj were among the frontline leaders of the Ram Mandir movement, seers associated with various akharas would offer prayers and celebrate the day at respective maths and temples.

"After a long battle, this day has finally come when bhumi pujan for a grand Ram temple would be held at Ayodhya. We will be celebrating the occasion as a long cherished dream is about to come true. Preparations for the celebrations are in full swing," said seers in Prayagraj.
Meanwhile, VHP and RSS workers are connect with people through social media for big celebrations to mark the momentous occasion and are chalking out plans to rope in more and more people.
