Prayagraj: A Prayagraj court on Saturday granted bail to
Manzoor Ahmad, son of former Uttar Pradesh minister Ansar Ahmad, in connection with the cold storage collapse in the Phaphamau area on March 23, 2026.
The collapse at the Adarsh Cold Storage facility, owned by Ansar Ahmad, resulted in the death of four labourers and left 14 others injured. An ammonia gas leak was also reported following the incident, prompting emergency response measures.
Sessions Judge Satya Prakash Tripathi granted bail to Manzoor Ahmad after hearing arguments from his counsel as well as state govt.
Earlier, four staff members of the cold storage — Mohd Irfan, Mohd Jabir, Allauddin and Mohd Usman — had also been granted bail in the case.
An FIR was lodged by sub-inspector Kambod Singh against 12 individuals, including seven named accused and some unidentified accomplices. They have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Section 103 (murder), along with Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932, and other relevant charges.
