ALLAHABAD: A panel discussion on 'Art Expression and Society in 66 years of Independence' was organized at Allahabad Museum on the eve of
Independence Day. The panelists included former head of AU's psychology department Prof RC Tripathi, former head of English department Prof Manas Mukul Das, English department's Prof Neelam Saran Gaur and Prof Lalit Joshi of the Medieval and Modern History department.
Museum director Rajesh Purohit moderated the event. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Das likened art to creative experience on journey. Prof Neelam Saran Gaur said that writing in English underwent a change after 1947. Prof Tripathi said art expression was related to beautiful minds that graced the portrait of Allahabad University. Prof Joshi said that one of the fascinating aspects of cultural expression in India in the last 66 year was the use of many languages, however, Indian cinema had rejected this aspect. He also sought appreciation for the role of museum.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Prof Asheem Mukherjee from the department of business administration, eminent architect Pragya Mehrotra, MNNIT's S Abbas,
Arindam Ghosh from Indian Press and Hasan Naqvi. The programme was co-ordinated by head of AU's education department Sunil Gupta.
