ALLAHABAD: The crime branch on Wednesday arrested Vinit Singh Parihar near Zero Road bus depot in connection with jeweller Pankaj Mahendra abduction case. With Parihar's arrest, the number of accused arrested in the case has gone up to five, while three others are on the run.
The abductors had kept the jeweller in Parihar's farm house in Bhudha village under Asothar police station of Fatehpur.

SP (City) Rajesh Yadav said that Vinit Singh Parihar of Myorabad in Cantonment area in the city owned a farm house spread over 46 acres. He further said that a probe into Parihar's assets was already underway. The income tax department would probe his income and the farmland, said Yadav.
"All the accused involved in the abduction would be charged under the Gangster Act and the tangible and intangible assets acquired by them will be attached under Section 14(1) of the Act," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Fatehpur police had rescued Pankaj and arrested four accused, including Vikalp, nephew of Babloo Srivastava, Sachchidanand, Mahendra and Chandra Mohan.
