Naini inmates operated for cataract

Director of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and principal of Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Dr S P Singh and his team conducted a cataract operation on 22 inmates of Naini Central Jail at M D Eye Hospital on Tuesday. The team comprised Dr Basant Kumar Singh, Dr Vinod Singh, Dr Virendra Yadav, Dr Jagdish, Dr Chandra Prakash, Dr Vinod Soni, Dr Harsh and Dr Jagrati Ratna.Dr Arpan Dhar Dube, consultant physician at Central Jail, Naini, Allahabad said inmates suffering from hernia, hydrocele and piles would be operated by next month. Senior jail superintendent Ambrish Gaur, chief medical superintendent of Central Jail, Naini Hospital, Dr V P Chand, Nitin Yasharth, Arun Nigam, Dr S K Shukla and others were present on the occasion.
Project visit: Regional executive director (North) of NTPC Ltd Sharad Anand visited the different sites of Rihand Super Thermal Power Project during his two-day stay. Earlier, general manager P Ramesh and senior officials of NTPC Rihand welcomed RED (North) Sharad Anand at Shivalik Guest House. Anand visited various areas, including cooling tower, boiler U 6,ESP Unit 5&6, TG Hall, ash slurry pump house, track hopper, CHP(Main), etc. and reviewed progress of project activities. In a meeting, Anand reviewed overall progress of Rihand Project with P Ramesh and senior officials in GM's conference hall. During the meeting, he had also addressed the SMC members. Sharad Anand planted sapling in the Nandan Kanan Park of Rihand Project.
Bridge winners: Pintoo Bose and Shanker Chatterjee were winners of the 5th Dr S K Bapat Memorial bridge pair match organised by Allahabad Bridge Association at Lukerganj Club. Pintoo Bose and Shanker Chatterjee secured 73 points and emerged winners. Vijay Agarwal and Maboodullah scored 58 points to secure second position while B N Agarwal and Anisul Haq secured 46 points and stood third.
