ALLAHABAD: Union railway minister M Mallikarjun Kharge made a brief stop over at Allahabad railway junction on Tuesday evening. He arrived at platform number 1 of Allahabad railway junction by MR Special from Kanpur. Headed for Varanasi, the minister did not alight from the train but greeted the people coming to the door of the coach.
Union minister of railways had visited Kanpur to inaugurate a new train between Amritsar and Kanpur.

General Manager of North Central Railway Alok Johri along with top officers of the zone escorted railway minister from Kanpur to Allahabad. However, general manager of North Eastern Railway KK Atal boarded the train at Allahabad to escort the railway minister to Varanasi.
Meanwhile, president of Indian National Defence Workers Association Ashok Singh who was accompanying the railway minister was given rousing reception on his arrival at the junction. Members of the Association had turned up at Allahabad railway junction in large numbers. Amit Yadav, secretary of the Allahabad chapter said that Ashok Singh was instrumental in raising the problems of defence employees and played a vital role in the announcement of Seventh Pay Commission.
