Kalibari celebrations continue

The third day of the week-long annual cultural festival of Allahabad Kalibari was inaugurated by Justice Ravindra Singh of Allahabad High Court on Thursday.

ALLAHABAD: The third day of the week-long annual cultural festival of Allahabad Kalibari was inaugurated by Justice Ravindra Singh of Allahabad High Court as the chief guest on Thursday by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his address Justice Singh informed that the age-old temple was established by Swami Krishnananda Brahmachari in 1860. He also referred to freedom fighter Rash Behari Ghosh who donated his entire land for this society.

While felicitating Dr S N Mukherjee, renowned homeopath of city and present vice-president of Anglo Bengali Educational Society, Justice Singh lauded Dr Mukherjee's contributions to Kalibari and social service. Earlier, Sri Hara Dhan Banerjee, acting president of Kalibari welcomed the guests. Arun Kumar Banerjee, secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
The cultural programme on the third day comprised dance performances by T K Ganguly, Biswarup Roy, Sumanto Mukherjee, Chayan Dey and Joyshree Banerjee, Tanushree Sarkar, etc. The instrumentalists included Jayanto Bose on casio, Arun Ganguly on guitar, Shaibal Ghosh on tabla and Sukumar Sarkhel. The programme was directed by Ira Banerjee and narrated by Manju Bhargava.
