Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court has directed the special judge (MP/MLA), Rampur, to hear former MLA Nawab Kazim Ali Khan in the appeal filed by state govt seeking enhancement of punishment awarded to senior
Samajwadi Party leader
Azam Khan.
Justice Vikram D Chauhan passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Nawab Kazim Ali Khan alias Naved Miyan, which challenged an order of the special judge (MP/MLA)/additional sessions judge, Rampur. The lower court had earlier dismissed his revision plea seeking enhancement of Azam Khan’s sentence, citing that state govt had already filed an appeal for the same and that a separate revision was not maintainable.
During the hearing, counsels for all parties agreed that the revisionist-complainant could be permitted to participate in the appeal filed by the state before the sessions court and be heard in the matter.
The high court, in its order dated April 10, directed the special judge (MP/MLA)/additional sessions judge, court no. 2, Rampur to hear Nawab Kazim Ali Khan in the state’s appeal against the conviction order of Azam Khan dated Nov 17, 2025 passed in a criminal case.
