PRAYAGRAJ: A relative of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahemd and six others were booked on the charges of threatening and seeking extortion with Dhoomanganj police station here on Friday. According to police, Kasari Masari resident Hifzur Rehman has lodged an FIR with Dhoomanganj police against Khalid Zafar (Atiq’s son-in-law), his brother Maaz, Irfan and three others under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt ), 386 ( extortion), 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation), accusing them of grabbing grab his land, threatening and seeking extortion.

The complainant in his FIR also stated that Khalid Zafar (who claims to be the son-in-law of Atiq) had forcibly sold the complainant’s plot to another person in 2015 and threatened him of dire consequences if he dared to seek money for his plot. He also mentioned in the FIR that he was not given any money and was forced to sign several documents.

After the killing of Atiq and his brother Ashraf, the complainant was given Rs 10 lakh by the accused and told not to initiate any legal action.

The miscreants had also threatened him of dire consequences if he dared to report the matter to the police.

Two months back, when the complainant again met Irfan (brother-in-law of Khalid Zafar), he asked about the remaining money which was given to the land owner. Irfan assured him that he would talk to Khalid about the issue.

On July 16, the complainant received a call wherein he was asked to meet the accused to settle the issue at a particular location and was later thrashed by the miscreants. Police have detained one accused named in the FIR for interrogation.
