ALLAHABAD: On the occasion of
World Book Day a talk was delivered by Rajesh Purohit director of Allahabad Museum on the many facets of books and writers from across the globe who made their impression on readers with vivid ideas. He spoke at length for the need to revive India's oral tradition and said the tradition of reading books has gone down.
Even a famous writer like Jeffrey Archer had to visit different ports of India to promote the sale of his books and publishers have not given up as many books are getting published.
There is also the circulation of e-books on the Internet, he added. He bemoaned the fact that it has been 100 years since Rabindranath Tagore won the Nobel Prize but no other Indian has won the biggest prize in literature.
