A 30-year-old farmer identified as Rama Shankar and his son named as Ritesh (8) were allegedly shot by the farmer’s elder brother Vijay Shankar at Purva Khas village on Friday morning.

A 30-year-old farmer identified as Rama Shankar and his son named as Ritesh (8) were allegedly shot by the farmer’s elder brother Vijay Shankar at Purva Khas village on Friday morning.
Slain farmer’s wife Rekha and daughter Khushboo also sustained gunshot injuries when the two tried to save Rama Shankar and Ritesh.
Vijay Shankar was arrested on the spot. The licensed DBBL gun used in the killing was also seized by the police.

Initial police investigations revealed that Vijay Shankar was addicted to liquor and he used to have brawls with his father Vismay Lal and younger brother Rama Shankar for money.
On Friday morning, Vijay Shankar had asked his father to give him money for liquor. When the latter refused, he started arguing him and asked for his share in the property.
Hearing the heated arguments, Rama Shankar and his son Ritesh came out from their room. Rama Shankar was about the leave the house as he had to drop his son to school. But he stopped and tried to intervene in the issue.
When Rama Shankar asked his elder brother to mend his ways and leave his drinking habits, Vijay Shankar lost his cool and took out his licensed DBBL gun from his room and opened fire on his younger brother. The firing left Rama Shankar and Ritesh in a pool of blood and they died on the spot.

Rama Shankar’s wife and daughter Khushboo came out from their room, the accused also opened fire on the two, leaving them critically wounded.
Vishmay Lal came out of the house and stopped two policeman who were returning to their houses after picket duty.
The two cops caught the accused. According to police, he was in an inebriated state.
SHO Industrial Area and other police officials reached the spot. The bodies were sent for postmortem examination. The injured woman and her daughter were admitted at a private nursing home.
