Dharmendra Yadav challenges Sanghmitra Maurya’s election

ALLAHABAD: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Dharmendra Yadav on Friday moved an election petition before the Allahabad High Court, challenging the election of BJP MP Sanghmitra Maurya from Badaun parliamentary constituency in recently concluded Lok Sabha election.Sanghmitra Maurya, who is daughter of cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya, had defeated Dharmendra Yadav from Badaun in Lok Sabha election-2019.Former MP Dharmendra Yadav is nephew of SP stalwart Mulayam Singh Yadav. He filed his election petition through his counsel NK Pandey, but was himself present before the registrar general as per rule. In his election petition he has taken various grounds, including irregularities in counting of votes. As per rule, all these election petitions will be placed before the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, who will nominate a Bench to hear the matter.
