Criminal injured in encounter, arrested
Prayagraj: A criminal was injured and arrested in an encounter with the police near Dhamnakhurd road under the limits of Chandpur police station of Fatehpur district late on Sunday night.
The injured criminal, Dharamveer alias Raj Lodhi alias Uglesh (29) of Guaspur, was admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
Having more than 24 criminal cases lodged against him across the state, he was carrying Rs 25,000 cash reward on his head.
A joint team of Chandpur and Bindiki police was carrying out checking when they got a tip-off about his movement near Dharmakhurd road.
As cops intercepted a bike and asked the biker to stop, he opened fire on police party and cops too retaliated and left the criminal injured with his left leg. Cops have seized a bike, one country-made pistol of 0.315 bore along with one live and one used cartridge and a looted gold chain from his possession.
Police said that Lodhi was wanted by Chandpur police in connection with a case registered under section 304(2) of BNS wherein he along with his accomplice had looted a gold chain worth Rs 2.50 lakh of a woman near Harkundi canal bridge road on April 8.
