ALLAHABAD: Expressing their ire over contaminated water supply being received by residents of several localities in the city, Congress workers staged a dharna at the office of general manager, Jal Sansthan on Thursday.
Giving this information, secretary city Congress committee, Rajkumar Singh said that residents of several localities in old city as well as in the north are receiving contaminated water supply owing to callous attitude of Jal Sansthan authorities.
The areas are Azad square, South Malaka, Atala, Tulsipur, Kareli and Mumfordgunj, where cases of water diseases among residents have risen unexpectedly owing to contaminated water supply.
He added that manhole covers were missing at several places and Jal Sansthan authorities it seems are waiting for some mishap to occur after which they would address the issue.
Moreover, no action has been taken despite the fact that annual survey report has clearly mentioned that contamination is very high in drinking water supply in the city.

Anil Chaudhary said that places like Madaripur are facing acute crisis of drinking water and demand immediate laying of drinking water pipelines in the area.
