ALLAHABAD: Three children Sonu (12), Monu (10) and Pratap Singh (8) hailing from Samda village of Kaushambi district were rescued from the clutches of a man, belonging to a neighbouring village, by the government railway police (GRP) while they were being taken outside the city as child labourers.
The three children alongwith the man were sitting at the Allahabad junction station when they were spotted by GRP personnel who grew suspicious about their identity.
When they inquired, the three disclosed that they were going to ajmer alongwith the man accompanying them.
However, the three failed to provide the identity of the man and said that he is known to their family. The GRP immediately took the three children and the man in their custody and informed the volunteers of an organisation, Child Line.
Talking to TOI, the co-ordinator of Child Line, Sudha Tripathi, said that after initial inquiry it appears that the man had connived with the parents of the children whom he may have offered some money in exchange for their children. In return the man wished to utilise their services as child labourers.
She added that the children would be produced before the magistrate on Saturday and would be sent back home once they are released from police custody.
