ALLAHABAD: Several volunteers of Aam Admi Party (AAP), including women activists, staged a protest at Subhash Crossing, Civil Lines against the rising crime incidents against women across the state, on Thursday.
The protestors alleged that state government's policies and derogatory remarks issued by top leaders of the Samajwadi Party were responsible behind a spurt of such incidents.

Poonam Pathak, deputy in charge of women cell claimed, "There has been an unprecedented rise in the cases of rape and even victims were forced to drink acid." She further alleged that the law breakers have no fear of law and order and state government was responsible for such a scenario in the state.
The women volunteers shouted slogans against state government and sought their resignation for their failure to protect the women in the state. "Crime against women should be immediately stopped and stringent action should be taken against persons involved in such cases," said a woman volunteer further adding that "state government is not taking any corrective measures for women's safety."
District convener, AAP, Anjani Kumar Mishra warned that they would be holding a district level agitation if the situation was not improved and added that the rise in crime against women would not be tolerated.
