PHED confident of supplying water from Bisalpur till August
AJMER: The team of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) looking to the supply of drinking water from
Official sources said that the supply will remain the same as it is given to all three districts and they will manage the production of water in Bisalpur Dam. They agreed that in the coming summers, the demand of water will be increased in all three districts. “For that, the local office has to manage from different sources and to provide water through tankers,” said officials. The department has decided to produce water till 300 metres in Bisalpur dam and they have eight metres of water to supply in the next six months. The official said that the well in Bisalpur Dam from which the water is produced, is working fine, and to ensure the quality of water, they will clean the water before supplying. Jaipur at present is getting about 600 MLD and Ajmer has a share of 250 MLD.
The Bisalpur Dam had not overflowed last year and maximum water level of the dam was 313.90 metres with the maximum height of 315.5 metres. As the dam had not overflowed, the water was also not released for irrigation of about 260 villages of Tonk and
In 2016, the dam had overflowed when the level went up to 315.2 metres and in 2015 again, crossed 315.4 metres and in 2013, the dam overflowed even in mid monsoon. The Bisalpur project was started in 1994 and raised in different phases but in the year 2000, the height of the dam was raised to 315.50 metres. It overflowed for the first time in the year 2004 and then in 2006, but in 2008, after monsoon, the level of the dam remained 306.85 metres and therefore, in 2009, the level of water in the dam fell to 298 metres, which is the lowest till now and production of water was stopped for some days that year.
In 2001, the gauge went up to 311 metres and the department was happy to find the storage. The water in the dam flowed from Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Tonk and Ajmer districts.
Bisalpur
