AJMER: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday condemned the mob culture and the attack on a constable who was deployed in Bhim town of Rajasmand district following the murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur .

Gehlot went to JLN Hospital to meet injured constable Sandeep Choudhary and announced Rs 5 lakh from the CM fund for him. He also announced Rs 5 lakh from the police fund and promoted him to the rank of a head constable.

Choudhary showed bravery while controlling the mob but some miscreants attacked him with a sword.

Gehlot said, "What is this culture where people take law in their hands? An atmosphere of hatred has enveloped the country and therefore the Prime Minister should step in and make an appeal."

"I have talked to Choudhary and offered my prayers for his well being and assured him that the government is with him," he added.
