Woman’s bag with gold worth 19 lakh snatched from moving auto in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad:Two unidentified men on a scooter allegedly snatched a handbag containing gold ornaments worth Rs 19.43 lakh from a 48-year-old woman travelling in an autorickshaw in the early hours of Tuesday.The complainant, Jyoti Chandak, a homemaker living in Maninagar and a native of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, had returned to the city after attending a family wedding. She and her son arrived at Sabarmati railway station around 5am and hired an autorickshaw for the ride home. Around 5.30am, when the auto had reached a school in the Madhavpura-Bardolpura area, two men on a scooter approached from the side. The pillion rider, described as a thin-built man with his face covered, allegedly snatched the handbag and fled towards Dariapur. The autorickshaw driver gave chase, but lost them and the scooter's registration number could not be noted in the darkness. According to the complaint, the bag had gold ornaments and a mobile phone. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at Rs 19.43 lakh.

Madhavpura police are sifting through CCTV footage from the route to identify the accused.
