While the students have readied the prototype of the web portal, the launch of the complete and full fledged version of the portal, which will cover 125 MBA institutes in the state, is expected by around the first week of January 2011.
Professor at GLS and incharge of the of PGDM at GLS Rajesh Asrani said, “There are details of many MBA institutes in the country but there is not any convenient means for students to know, understand and analyze the institutes in the state and the programmes they offer.” Apart from providing information, the website will also act as a common interaction ground for MBA students.
It will allow students to post and share their study materials, hold forums, vote for their favourite institutes and also allow students to post their queries on MBA and Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET), which will be answered by a panel of experts comprising directors of various MBA institutes.
“We will also be live casting various events in MBA institutes like lectures by eminent personalities, seminars, conferences and special classroom sessions and so on,” Asrani said. Talking about the institute’s interest in the initiative, Asrani said, “It’s a simulated enterprise for the students which gives them an opportunity to implement the theories and understandings from the classroom and gain a first hand experience of setting up and functioning of an enterprise.” There are around 12,000 seats for MBA in the 125 B schools in the state.
Around 27,000 students appeared in the GCET 2010 to study MBA.
