Two city police stations without lock-ups

Ahmedabad: In Ahmedabad city, two police stations — Sabarmati riverfront (west) and Sabarmati riverfront (east) — which cover areas around the river do not have lock-ups. The Sabarmati riverfront (east) police station operates from a shopping complex near Madhavpura. Due to the absence of a lock-up, they keep their accused in the lock-up at the Madhavpura police station nearby.Sabarmati riverfront (west) police, who drew flak for the custodial torture of 12 tribal workers in 2019, also do not have a lock-up.
