AHMEDABAD: A 32-year-old man, who works as a cab driver, on Sunday filed a complaint with the Airport police that another cab driver attacked him and slashed his face over a dispute of the taxi fare at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Aairport late on Saturday night.

Ramesh Desai, a resident of Hirabag Society in Ghatlodia, said in his FIR that he operates a cab for various cab service providers and keeps his car stationed at the city airport.

On Saturday night, he got a drop call from an app and he accepted the ride, another cab driver named Brijesh Patel approached him. Patel told Desai that he should not accept the ride on the fare suggested by app and rather he should follow Patel's advice on fare.

Patel further told Desai that he would tell him on how much to charge for each ride. Desai refused to follow Patel's advice of charging astronomical fare from passengers and told him that he would only collect the fare suggested by cab service provider.

This irked Patel who began abusing Desai in the airport parking area. When Desai objected to it, Patel took out a knife and attacked him. Desai tried to evade him by holding the knife, but Patel slashed his right cheek twice. Two other cab-drivers rescued Desai and took him to a nearby private hospital.

Desai later filed a complaint of causing grievous hurt, uttering of abusive words and criminal intimidation against Patel with Airport police.
