State IPS officer appointed SPG chief

AHMEDABAD: Vivek Srivastava, 1989 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been appointed chief of Special Protection Group (SPG). The SPG is entrusted with the security of select VIPs, including the Prime Minister of the country, former prime ministers and their families.
Srivastava, an inspector general of police, was posted as joint director of IB in Patna. He told TOI over phone: “I have received orders posting me in SPG.I shall take charge once I am relieved from my current post at Patna subsidiary of the Intelligence Bureau.”
