VADODARA: Noorjahan Sheikh, who was living in a home for elderly after escaping from her son's house, went back to Ujjain on Friday. Her son Niyazuddin came to the city to take his 72-year-old mother back, after Ujjain police informed him about Noorjahan.
Niyazuddin, in a letter to the authorities, promised to take care of his mother. He also claimed that his mother had not run away and that he had sent her to his brother living in Surat, but Noorjahan alighted at Vadodara railway station instead.
"My wife and mother do not get along well. We had regular arguments in the house and I confess that I have not treated my mother well. But I did not want to throw her out so rudely. But she wanted to leave in the middle of the night. So, I bought her a ticket to Surat thinking that she needs time to cool off," said Niyazuddin.
Noorjahan was spotted at the Vadodara railway station by Mayur Rohit on March 8. She had claimed then that she had escaped from her elder son's residence on the night of March 5 after he reportedly beat her and injured her severely. The woman had spent two days begging at the railway station before Rohit had rescued her. She was reluctant to go back then and wanted to stay in Vadodara claiming that that her son would kill her if she stayed with him. Noorjahan was taken to the Sayajigunj police station, who sent her to the home for the elderly. tnn
