A special CBI court has directed the investigation agency to release the passport of Ketan Parekh, accused in the Madhavpura Mercantile Co-operative Bank scam, after taking a Rs 25 lakh deposit from him.

AHMEDABAD: A special CBI court has directed the investigation agency to release the passport of Ketan Parekh, accused in the Madhavpura Mercantile Co-operative Bank scam, after taking a Rs 25 lakh deposit from him.Additional chief judicial magistrate A YDave ordered to release the passport to Parekh for three months -from September30 to November 30, to visit the US, the UK and other European countries.Parekh had sought his passport to take his 20-year-old daughteroverseas for treatment. The court's order came with the condition that he willnot tamper with evidence or try to influence witnesses.Parekh hadbeen accused of a bank scam running into crores of rupees. The Supreme Courtgranted him bail on condition of paying Rs 380 crore back to the bank withinthree years. It was revealed in the court that Rs 450 crore has already beenpaid back by Parekh, while Rs 569 crore is yet to be returned.
