Ahmedabad: Compared to two consecutive days of 44°C-plus temperatures, the city on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 43.2°C, which was 1.6 degrees above normal. It was the second-highest maximum temperature in the state on Tuesday, after 43.6°C in Rajkot. At 25.7°C, the minimum temperature was 0.4 degrees below normal, suggesting cooler nighttime conditions.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is likely to be around 43°C."Gradual fall by 2-3°C in maximum temperatures during the next 4 days; thereafter no large change very likely over the region. Maximum temperatures are very likely to be in the range of 40°C to 44°C in the isolated pockets of inland areas of Gujarat state and in the range of 35°C to 39°C in the isolated pockets of coastal areas of Saurashtra-Kutch during the next three days," the forecast for Gujarat mentioned on Tuesday.Parts of the state's coastal regions experienced hot and humid weather. Some other cities and towns with high temperatures included Amreli at 42.9°C, Gandhinagar and Surendranagar at 42.8°C each, Vadodara at 42.6°C, and VV Nagar and Kandla at 41.5°C each. It is notable that the state has experienced scorching heat for the past couple of days, with most cities recording maximum temperatures above 42°C.
