'Police pushed me from terrace'

AHMEDABAD: Atul Patel, 34, a resident of Ajanta Ellora Apartment at Hirawadi in Bapunagar, has alleged that cops pushed him from the terrace of his factory to an adjoining terrace, about 13 feet below, on August 26.He said police had raided his factory following violence after Patidar leader Hardik Patel's detention. "Seeing cops thrashing my partner, Goku Dobaria, merci lessly, I ran to the terrace but the policemen followed me up there," said Patel.Atul Patel is currently undergoing treatment at Feny Orthopedic Hospital in Bapunagar for fractures in both legs. "The doctors have informed the police about the incident. Cops are coming to record my statement," said Patel.Atul runs an embroidery factory at Hirawadi. On August 26, cops broke open the lock of the main gate of the factory.Atul said they first asked his four employees who they were but as the reply came in Hindi, they were allowed to go. Atul's partner Gokul said he was beaten with sticks so badly that the bruises are visible even after three days.On the other hand, senior police officials claimed ignorance of the incident and said they would register Atul's complaint and take action against the cops if they were guilty.
