AHMEDABAD: The city police issued a notification on Tuesday against fake entities that identify themselves as registered charitable trusts and collect money for causes or provide houses at a nominal rate .
According to the notification, Bapunagar police had detected a scam involving accused Narendra Vyas, Hitesh Patel, Dinesh Prajapati and others, identifying themselves as trustees of Mahila Arthik Vikas Charitable Trust.

They duped citizens of more than Rs 7.75 lakh in the past one year. "The group, having their office at Manharnagar Shopping Centre near Khodiarnagar crossroads, used to promise the poor that they would provide them loans and also get a residence in Ashok Aavas by the municipal corporation. They had also provided the individuals with receipts and papers that have all turned out to be fakes," said a police official. tnn
The city police have asked the citizens to approach Bapunagar police station if they come across any such scheme or have invested in the projects promised by such 'charitable trusts'.
