PE tests for PSIs, LRD from Jan 21
The physical efficiency tests for appointment of 858 positions in the police sub-inspector (PSI) cadre and 12,733 positions in the Lok Rakshak cadre will take place from Jan 21. An official statement said that the tests will be conducted at 15 grounds in the state. Physical tests for male candidates will be conducted at 11 grounds from Jan 21 to March 13, and for female candidates and ex-servicemen at four grounds from Jan 21 to March 6.

Dy CM, delegation leaves for Davos to attend WEF
Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi and a high-level delegation left for Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum 2026 and present the roadmap for 'Developed Gujarat' and its strong industrial legacy. "The main aim of this visit is to create new opportunities for the youth of the state and to further advance Gujarat's strong legacy on a global level," an official statement quoted the DyCM as saying.
Republic Day event to be held at Vav-Tharad
The state-level Republic Day event will be held at Vav-Tharad district, with chief minister Bhupendra Patel and Governor Acharya Devvrat leading the state-level Republic Day celebration.
An official statement said that deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi and other ministers of the state govt will preside over Republic Day events in different districts.
Cawach to hold reels-making contest in colleges
The Cybersecurity Awareness and Creative Handholding (CAWACH) Kendra, which operates under the state education department, organised a state-level "reels/shorts making competition" for college and university students across the state from Jan 19 to Feb 8. Students can participate in the competition to spread awareness about cybersecurity, digital hygiene, protection against online fraud, social media responsibility, and digital wellbeing. Students from all govt engineering colleges, non-granted colleges, state universities, as well as all private colleges and universities in the state can participate in this competition, an official statement said.
LD Museum hosts exhibition on ‘Golu' idols in Ahmedabad
The LD Museum hosted an exhibition of Golu, idols of divinity, from Jan 17 to 31. According to the curators, Golu, a Tamil word meaning ‘divine presence', is a tradition of displaying dolls in some parts of south India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. It is associated with the festivals of Navratri and Makar Sankranti. They added that the dolls are made using clay, wood, terracotta, cloth, and papier mache by local artisans. One major attraction of the exhibition is the Vishwaroopam, the cosmic manifestation of Lord Vishnu, the curators said. The dolls are from the collection of Rajeswari and Pankaj Gorana, they added.
