AHMEDABAD: A 33-year-old man from Palestine, a researcher with the LD Engineering College, on Sunday filed a complaint with the Infocity police alleging that an owner of a petrol pump and four other men attacked him on June 16 when he demanded a bill from them.
Ahmed Mohammed Abuamer, a resident of Koba and a native of Khan Yunis city in Palestine, said in his FIR that he had gone to get fuel for his scooter on June 13 at a petrol pump in Kudasan.
After buying petrol for Rs 150, Abuamer demanded a bill for the same but the pump attendant went away. When Abuamer insisted that he be given the bill for the transaction, the attendant along with the owner of the petrol pump, Pravin Patel, and two others, began threatening him.
“They asked me to leave and said they will not give me any bill. They began fighting with me, so I called the police control room. This enraged them. They pushed my scooter, which fell on the road, and began abusing me,” said Abuamer.
He said that he had been living in Gujarat for seven years and could make out they were using abusive language and so he objected to it.
“After that, Patel along with other employees began beating me and as I tried to run away from the pump. They chased me, beat me and threatened to kill me. An unknown man helped me and brought my scooter. After that I went to a police station,” said Abuamer.
He said that Patel tried to strike a compromise with him, but as they failed to reach any settlement, Abuamer filed a complaint.
Infocity police have registered an FIR of unlawful assembly, rioting, using abusive words, causing damage, criminal intimidation and abetment against Patel and others.
