Owners of 274 dangerous buildings on rath yatra route get notices from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated action concerning dangerous and dilapidated buildings after its estate department conducted a survey along the rath yatra route. A total of 274 buildings were found to be in a dangerous state in the Central Zone. Notices were issued to owners, persons responsible as well as occupants under Section 264 of the GPMC Act by AMC’s property tax department asking them to remove dangerous or dilapidated parts of the buildings, carry out necessary repairs and prevent any accidents.
AMC has said that the property owner, person responsible or tenant will be liable for any damage due to collapse of hazardous building parts. From 2023 to 2025, 1,251 notices were issued, and this year, 274 notices have been issued.
AMC has appealed to citizens not to enter, reside in, or use buildings declared dangerous. Additionally, residents in the vicinity have been requested to exercise caution and ensure their safety.
