No Class X marksheets yet, students face admissions limbo
Ahmedabad: It has been three weeks since the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declared the Class X results, but students are yet to get their original marksheets. Officials have cited changes in the marksheet’s format and design as the main reason for the hold-up. Students and parents are disgruntled as marksheets usually get distributed within a week of the results, with schools acting as distribution centres.
The delay is affecting students seeking admission to diploma and other post-SSC courses. Online registration for diploma admissions has begun, and uploading documents such as marksheets and school leaving certificates is mandatory. Without their marksheets, students have been unable to complete their applications. Sources said students in rural areas have it tougher, as they have to repeatedly visit their school for updates.
Academics have criticized the delay, stating that in today’s digital age, such inefficiencies are unacceptable. They suggested that the board should ensure marksheets are ready by the time results are declared.
Students and parents have urged the board to expedite the process.
In the case of Class XII, the board had announced the results on May 4, but students received their marksheets only on May 23.
Even though the results were out on May 6, marksheets haven’t reached students yet. Without the marksheet, admissions to Class XI have been hit. Students and even schools are in a limbo. This is perhaps the first instance of such a delay

We have seen days when marksheets were handed over to students on the day results were announced. There is no clarity on what is taking the administration so long. Steps must be taken against those behind the delay
