Four-lane bridge costs Rs 103.63 crore

Construction of this four-lane flyover in Ghatlodiya ward has reached 85% physical progress. Built at a cost of Rs 103.63 crore, it is expected to be completed by February 2026. Makarba bridge connects Torrent Power-Corporate Road

The four-lane Makarba overbridge, connecting Torrent Power in Makarba to Corporate Road over railway crossing No. 24, has achieved 93% completion. The project faced delays due to a design change for an underground water line. Costing Rs 80.63 crore, it is slated for completion by March 2026 and will benefit 1.5 lakh commuters.

Hebatpur bridge links Thaltej-Sola Road

The Hebatpur overbridge connects Thaltej to Sola Science City Road over railway crossing No. 11(B) on the Viramgam line. Approach work is 85% complete and the railway portion 73% complete. With a project cost of Rs 74.15 crore, it is expected to be completed by June 2026.

Benefits over 4.5 lakh commuters

Upon completion and commissioning of all three major infrastructure projects, including the Sattadhar flyover, Makarba railway overbridge, and Hebatpur railway overbridge, traffic congestion is expected to significantly ease, benefiting more than 4.5 lakh daily commuters traveling through Ahmedabad’s heavily trafficked western areas.

Construction status promising reduced travel time

During the standing committee meeting, AMC chairman Devang Dani shared a detailed progress report on the ongoing infrastructure projects, highlighting that construction work on all major flyovers and railway overbridges in the city’s western parts is progressing well and is now nearing completion, promising improved connectivity for commuters once operational.

Makarba project delayed by design changes

The construction of the Makarba railway overbridge experienced setbacks due to necessary design modifications required to accommodate an underground water line, which temporarily halted work and extended the project timeline.

Projects improve western Ahmedabad connectivity

The projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time in heavily trafficked parts of western Ahmedabad.

Additional AMC work; connects Puja Farm to New Vatva

AMC also completed a 32.7m-wide RCC culvert on the road connecting Puja Farm to New Vatva, over the Ghodasar Canal, adding to the city’s ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
