Maninagar Police create WhatsApp group for senior citizens’ safety, coordination

Ahmedabad: Maninagar Police have set up a dedicated WhatsApp group for senior citizens residing within the police station limits to enable direct communication and quicker coordination. The initiative links a large number of elderly residents with police officials, surveillance staff and the She Team.Maninagar PI J P Jadeja said the group has been kept open to ensure continuous, real-time interaction between police personnel and senior citizens. Using the platform, elderly residents can report legal, social, physical, or personal issues and seek prompt guidance. Police also use the group to circulate alerts, safety messages, and other important updates. Jadeja said, "Maninagar has a large population of senior citizens. The WhatsApp group has been created to help them stay directly connected with the police and report any problem without delay." He also appealed to senior citizens not to trust unknown callers and advised banks to inform police if an elderly customer appears scared while withdrawing a large sum of money.
