AHMEDABAD: A man has alleged that Rs 18,000 cash was stolen from his office while he was with crime branch officials on Thursday.
Jasmin Patel, a resident of Vastrapur, has registered a complaint at Vastrapur police station. He said that the incident took place at his office on SG Highway when he was taken away for questioning by the cops.
Patel is a chemical trader.
Officials had taken him for interrogation regarding illegal sale of chemicals, in connection with a complaint at Vatva police station in March. Some chemical traders had lodged a complaint accusing Jasmin of cheating them. They said that Jasmin had sold some chemicals that belonged to them. The investigation was conducted by Vatva police station.
Crime branch officials said that Patel was believed to be absconding in the case and they went to check at his office. Finding him there, they took him to crime branch's office at Gaekwad Haveli where he was questioned at length.
Jasmin says the cops did not give him time to even close his office. When Jasmin returned, he realised that the cash in the office drawer was stolen. Jasmin, in his complaint at Vastrapur police station, has also named the crime branch police officials who had accompanied him.
