Light rain likely today

Ahmedabad: On Thursday, the rain intensity in Gujarat decreased, with only 24 out of 251 talukas receiving 1mm or more of rain until 6pm. Chikhli in Navsari recorded the highest rainfall at 27mm, followed by Vaghai at 24mm and Subir in Dang district at 23 mm. The South Gujarat region experienced the majority of the rainfall on Thursday.According to figures from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Gujarat has received 124% of its seasonal rainfall so far, the highest in the past four years. In comparison, the state had received 138% of its seasonal rainfall in 2020.Of the 251 talukas in Gujarat, 123 have recorded more than 1,000mm of rainfall this season. With partially cloudy weather, Ahmedabad city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees celsius, which was 0.8 degrees below normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, light rain is likely in some areas of the city on Friday. The monsoon trough at mean sea level, Western Disturbance, off-shore trough and cyclonic circulation are bringing rain to parts of western India, the IMD bulletin indicated.
