Ahmedabad: Even as three IPS officers of Gujarat cadre are presently deputed to Central Bureau of Investigation, Keshav Kumar a 1986 batch IPS officer from Gujarat is all set to return to Gujarat shortly. Senior police sources said Kumar was deputed to CBI in 2010 and was posted in charge of the special crime unit in Delhi. "He was later put in charge of Economic Offences Wing, Zone -2 at Mumbai after his promotion to IGP from DIG. He was granted promotion to Additional DGP while on deputation, " said a senior police official.

He got his last extension, along with six other IPS officers deputed from various cadres, in the CBI till January 2016. It is noteworthy that Keshav Kumar is expected to return back to his parent cadre, as his extension in the central agency has not been granted as of now. The three other Gujarat cadre officers AK Sharma, Rakesh Asthana and V Chandrashekar are currently on deputation in the prime investigation agency. tnn
