Gujarat: TAT-S candidates report error in hall tickets

Ahmedabad: For thousands of candidates preparing for the preliminary exam of the Teacher Aptitude Test for Secondary (TAT-S) exam, the countdown to May 3 has begun. But for some, a mistake on their hall ticket has added unexpected stress. Nearly 25 candidates say the medium of exam has been wrongly printed. With no provision for correction, they face a tough choice. The exam, meant for candidates aspiring to teach Classes 9 and 10, was earlier scheduled for April 26 but was postponed due to local body elections. Around 2.1 lakh candidates have registered for the test across the state.Soon after the hall tickets were issued, nearly 25 candidates reported that their exam medium had been incorrectly listed as English, even though they had selected a different language while applying. According to existing rules, candidates must appear in the medium mentioned on the hall ticket, making the error significant.Affected candidates approached the board seeking corrections, saying the discrepancy could be due to a technical glitch or administrative error. However, officials reportedly told them that no changes can be made once hall tickets are issued.This has placed candidates in a difficult situation. They now have to either write the exam in English or skip the attempt altogether. Many have questioned the lack of flexibility, especially when similar exams allow last-minute corrections in genuine cases.Candidates argue that if authorities can revise answer keys or correct question papers, they should also be able to fix errors in hall tickets. The issue has sparked concerns about fairness and the responsiveness of the exam system to genuine grievances.
