Gujarat Parivartan Party's first convention after defeat
AHMEDABAD: After losing the Gujarat election, Gujarat Parivartan Party(GPP) will hold a convention of party's office bearers, prabharis, state executive members, morcha leaders and district leaders on Saturday at Tagore hall here in the city.
According to GPP general secretary Gordhan Zadafia, party president Keshubhai Patel will preside over the function.
1x1 polls
The party which had contested the election on the symbol of bat in over 170 constituencies had managed to win only two seats. President Keshubhai Patel won against BJP minister Kanu Bhalala in Visavadar, while in Dhari the GPP candidate managed to win by a small margin of about 2000 votes.
The party only cold manage 3.86 per cent of the vote share which was even less than the earlier party launched by former chief Shankersinh Vaghela had got over 11 per cent vote in 1998. However, the GPP can only take credit that they stopped the BJP march to the assembly by 10 short MLAs. The GPP candidates stopped BJP candidates from winning by cutting across BJP votes and helping the congress candidate win.
