Ahmedabad: Supporters of former MLA of Dhanera, Gova Rabari ransacked the office of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) here after Congress declared Mukesh Gadhvi as its Lok Sabha candidate for Banaskantha.
The community leader gave an ultimatum of three days to Congress leaders to declare Rabari's name instead of Gadhvi for Banaskantha Lok Sabha constituency.

The leaders also called upon workers and members, not to vote for Congress if they failed to give ticket to Rabari.
Maldhari Samaj turned out in large number at GPCC office and gheraoed state president Siddharth Patel. The members of the community held him captive in his room for hours and broke the railings of the GPCC office. They called a music band with public address system and used the microphone to address people.
Lalubhai Desai, a leader from the community said that the Maldhari community has demanded just one seat and that too was turned down by Congress. He also claimed that according to the community leaders, there were over 1.3 lakh voters against 500 Gadhvi community in the constituency.
Siddharth Patel, however, said that the party will not change the candidate.
