GCCI expo focuses on semiconductors, deep tech

Ahmedabad: On the second day of the GATE-26 expo organized by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) in Gandhinagar, sessions were held on semiconductors and emerging investment thinking in AI products and deep technology.Addressing the gathering, Shekhar Patel, national president, Credai, said, "Ahmedabad is set to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030, and later in 2036, the Olympics could also be held here. The city will witness massive infrastructure and real estate growth over the next 10 years. Infrastructure being created will continue to be used well after these games for many years. The emphasis is not only on infrastructure creation but also on grooming athletes who bring medals for the country." A fireside discussion was also held with actress Sonali Bendre. Gagan Narang, vice-president, Indian Olympic Association, said, "India's sports sector is valued at about $52 billion with a growth rate close to 14%. Corporates can play a vital role in advancing sports development. Corporate strength and athletes' mindset together can form a winning combination. Beyond athletes, opportunities exist in support staff, physio, training, gyms and overall infrastructure. Funds exist, but the ecosystem still needs strengthening across strategic priorities nationwide." Neel Shah, CEO of Dream Sports Foundation, said, "A strong base must be built from school level, backed by quality sports academies. Corporates can play an important role in building a long-term, sustainable sports system nationwide ecosystem." Manisha Malhotra, president, Inspire Institute of Sports, said, "Gujarat will host major sports events, and the state offers vast opportunities in sports infrastructure development projects."
