AHMEDABAD: Some Amdavadis on Thursday celebrated the BJP's win with chai, a brew associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while others organized group viewings of the live telecast of the election results and celebrated with firecrackers and music.

Abhinisha Zubin Ashara, a food and fashion blogger, distributed about 150 cupcakes with an edible layer of Modi's photograph on the top. "There was no doubt in my mind that the PM would return to power but the unprecedented victory margin marks him out as one of the most popular leaders today," she said. "We distributed the cupcakes to the poor."

Zalak Patel, an event organizer, said: "Even before the results were announced, we had organized an event calling popular performers such as Arvind Vegada and Devang Patel near Kameshwar Mahadev as we were sure of the BJP's win," he said. "As the day progressed, the crowd kept swelling and we served chai and pakoras." He said people like him wish the second-term PM the best to take bolder steps and make India stronger.
