Filmmaker gets bail

Ahmedabad: A metropolitan court here on Thursday granted bail to filmmaker Avinash Das, who was arrested for sharing on Twitter a photograph of Union home minister Amit Shah with tainted Jharkhand IAS officer Pooja Singhal.
City crime branch also booked and arrested him for tweeting a painting of a nude woman wrapped in the tricolour.
He was sent to one-day custodial interrogation after a city sessions court and then the Gujarat high court refused anticipatory bail with the observation that an insult to the tricolour should not be tolerated.
HC grants anticipatory bail in NDPS case:
The Gujarat high court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to one Samirkhan Pathan, who has been booked under the NDPS Act after city crime branch arrested a couple of persons in possession of 83 bottles of cough syrup in Behrampura in April. Pathan’s advocate Utkarsh Dave argued that police have booked Pathan on the basis of a statement made by a co-accused whereas his name is not revealed in the FIR.tnn
