has ended, banned Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani from campaigning due to his inflammatory speech at Surat.

Dr S Murali Krishna, chief electoral officer said that the ECI has ordered Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani not to campaign for 72 hours starting from 4.00pm on May 2.

The action came after Vaghani’s controversial speech at Surat during the the Lok Sabha campaign in Gujarat.

Vaghani who is in Banaras-Varanasi for the BJP’s campaign said, “I have not got any notice from the ECI. I don’t understand the point in any notices now as the elections in Gujarat are over. I am not a star campaigner in any state where elections are yet to be held however I will first see the notice and respond.”
