AHMEDABAD: Amanpreet Singh Chhabra, a resident of Anandnagar has filed a complaint with city police for theft of his car by a youth hired as car driver. Police have started search for the youth on the basis of the mobile number used by him.
According to Anandnagar police, Amanpreet Singh Chhabra, a resident of Shaligram near Prahladnagar, owns a transport business near Aslali. He wanted a driver for his car and posted a classified advertisement on a job portal. From the responses received, Chhabra hired Arvind Patel, a resident of Sola, as he claimed that he was working with a private company on contract earlier and has clean track record.
"He was asked to report on June 10 after fixing the terms and conditions of employment. According to the complaint, Patel got keys of the car when asked to fetch the vehicle and on pretext of taking a short tour, fled with the car altogether. When he could not be contacted on his phone, the suspicion proved to be true. We have started search for the car and accused as we believe he might have provided fake name and identity. His home address has turned out to be fake," said a police investigator.
