AHMEDABAD: Dalit agitation leader Jignesh Mevani will address a gathering at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Saturday where in he is likely to discuss the future course of action of the agitation that began after the flogging incident of July 11.

Mevani, convener of Una Dalit Atyachar Ladat Samiti (UDALS), said, "I wish to take our agitation nationwide through the JNU platform in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recommended stern action on cow vigilantes, but the attacks have not stopped nor have any tough actions been taken by the government."

Mevani had spearheaded the dalit agitation by organizing a mass gathering of the community on July 31 and then embarking on his foot march to Una — 'Dalit Asmita Yatra' — on August 5. Mevani on August 15 had addressed a gathering at Una town where in JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar was also invited.
