Custodial death case: HC notice over CBI probe

BrahmbhattAshaThakkarRajuThakkarAsha has demanded a CBI probe in the whole issue. Thakkar, who was wanted in connection with a theft case, was nabbed by PSI P R Patel and his custody was handed over to the squad of joint police commissioner of Sector II. The next day his dead body was found on Sabarmati riverbed. The investigation was handed over to the city crime branch immediately. Nine policemen, including PSI Patel from Sardarnagar police, came to be booked for the custodial death. Five of them were arrested and remanded for 14 days, and later sent to jail. Hearing on Asha's plea is now kept on July 1. tnn
