AHMEDABAD: A sessions court on Thursday issued notice to a DCP for poor investigation in a student's murder case and sought an explanation after the investigation officer failed to convince the court.
A student from Patva Sheri, Mohammed Shoaib Shaikh, was killed on November 6 last year. He was found dead near Gota bridge with his face thrashed by a big stone.

Sarkhej police inspector R C Patel probed this case and arrested one of Shaikh's friends, Altamas Qureshi. The case then did not proceed further, neither the motive behind the crime was revealed.
This led Shaikh's father Rafiq Qureshi to move the court for proper investigation. His advocate Imtiyaz Pathan submitted before the court that the stone was weighing around 80 kg and it was difficult to believe that only one person had committed the crime.
Patel, who is now retired from service, did not even respond to the court's three summons. Ultimately, the court issued a non-bailable warrant. Patel remained present before court and additional sessions judge M C Tyagi pulled up the retired cop for the lopsided investigation. As Patel failed to respond to the court's queries, the judge issued notice to the DCP concerned, seeking a reply to the unanswered questions in this murder case.
Further hearing is kept on December 24.
